The sudden death in March of Arno de Heus, commercial manager and co-owner of international salvage company Joh. van der Zand BV in Waardenburg, marked a difficult time on many levels. The reassuring news has since come out that the company will continue as a subsidiary of Vreugdenhil Berging BV from Den Hoorn (ZH).Both companies maintain their own strong identity and make up part of the BCU (Bergings Combinatie Utrecht), of which Collewijn and Modern Berging also form part. The building in Waardenburg will remain open and employment will be maintained.
Searching for a lasting solution
Vreugdenhil Berging, looking back. "One of the first things we did as a partner company, following consultation, was to tell employees and customers that by picking up and supporting the work, we were able to guarantee continuity. In addition, we kept our promise to founder Johan van der Zand and the family by reaching a lasting, future-proof solution. We found this in the merger of Int. Bergingsbedrijf Joh. van der Zand as a full subsidiary of the Zuid-Hollandse Vreugdenhil Berging".
Chris Müller continues: "Because both companies were already affiliated with one another in the BCU (Bergings Combinatie Utrecht), follow-up steps could be put into place very quickly. Vreugdenhil Berging is taking over shares from salvage company Joh. van der Zand. Although tasks overlap here to a certain extent, all employees of Joh. van der Zand will stay working at our company. Planning will take part on a full-time centralised basis from our staffed control room in Rijswijk ZH. This will also house a certain amount of the material, but Waardenburg will also remain operational. Our strong European network is staying intact. Additionally, we're delighted that founder Johan van der Zand is staying connected as a specialist advisor. This helps ensure we are living out our motto, "If you're stranded anywhere in Europe, call the international salvage company, Joh. van der Zand".
The company merger provides a combination with a broad spectrum of salvage and service operations for private individuals, business customers, road authorities and insurers. From control rooms, national and international salvage, repatriation, cost control and covered car transport to road surface cleaning, crane hire, low loader transport, cargo storage and complete recovery of the incident site. All in all, a strongly decisive concept to assist customers from A to Z.
